Zoyka’s Maine Coon Kittens at One Week Old
This January 2026 update captures an early milestone for Zoyka and her Maine Coon kittens at Majestic Maine Coon Cats in Georgia. At one week old, the kittens were still completely dependent on their mother for warmth, nutrition, cleaning, and security.
How the One-Week-Old Kittens Were Developing
- Steady growth: The kittens were nursing regularly and being weighed so their progress could be monitored.
- Early movement: At this age, kittens move mainly by wiggling and crawling toward their mother and littermates.
- Eyes still closed: Newborn kittens generally begin opening their eyes during the following stage of development, although timing varies.
- Maternal care: Zoyka kept the litter warm, clean, and well-fed while we monitored the nursery closely.
What Happens After the First Week?
During the weeks that follow, kittens begin opening their eyes, moving with greater coordination, responding to their surroundings, and showing early differences in personality. Individual photographs and identification become easier as their features and coat colors develop.
